Supervisor, Production
Job Description/Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Quality & Compliance, the Supervisor of Production works as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product as well as overseeing the day-to-day cleaning of the processing rooms and warehouses. This individual can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all. This individual is responsible for leading a team of Production Line Operators as well as Sanitation team members and ensuring all tasks are performed in a timely and efficient manner while following all Standard Operating Procedures.
Manufacturing tasks include placing ingredients in the blender based on approved Master Manufacturing Record, placing bottles on a conveyor belt; making and labeling boxes; inspecting product for quality, weight and taste; counting, stacking, placing finished product in master cases; stacking master cases on pallets; moving full pallets with pallet jack. Sanitation tasks include cleaning production / packaging/warehouse areas; getting needed equipment and supplies; taking out garbage, etc. Cleaning of the production areas follows validated cleaning procedures meeting SQF (Safe Quality Foods) standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Quality: employees will be trained to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards in keeping with our food and Natural Health Product quality standards. Hairnet, beard net, and latex / vinyl gloves and uniforms are all required. No watches or jewelry, no piercing’s, false fingernails, or nail polish are permitted in the plant.
- Safety: employees will be trained to ensure compliance with company Safe Practices. Slip-resistant footwear is required.
- Ensure that production meets all health, sanitation and quality standards in a GMP certified facility.
- Responsible for reviewing manufacturing processes for efficiency, noting areas for improvement and researching alternative machinery, equipment or modifications.
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Oversees the cleaning/sanitation of the entire facility.
- Performs and documents monthly inspection of the entire facility including non-production/warehouse areas to ensure they are properly cleaned.
- Reviews the cleaning logs.
- Assigns and implements corrective actions for areas where cleaning is not satisfactory.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in science with ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Minimum 5 years experience in production, packaging, assembly or line work in a food or natural health products facility.
- Minimum 2 years with All fill, Axiom, HMC Pouching manufacturing machines, and forklift operating
- Minimum 2 years supervising in a HACCP, GMP, SQF or equivalent certified facility.
- Minimum 2 years working with SAP Business 1.
- Lean manufacturing experience will be considered an asset.

- Physical requirements: Occasionally lifting of 50 pounds; standing 8-10 hours; frequent to constant bending, reaching, twisting and repetitive hand motion.
